What is a Library of Things?
A ‘Library of Things’ refers to any non-traditional circulating materials in a library’s collection. These non-traditional items may include toys, equipment, technology, instruments, and even clothing.
A Library of Things collection is a way to participate in a larger ‘sharing economy’, which is the practice of sharing objects and services to widen the availability of items while reducing overconsumption and waste. By offering non-traditional circulating materials, the Catskill Public Library and Palenville Branch Library are able to expand our mission of providing free access to the world of ideas, learning and entertainment for the enrichment of the community in the Town of Catskill.
How to Borrow
Library of Things items are available to Mid-Hudson Library System cardholders only. All borrowers must sign a Borrower Agreement. Minors must have a parent, caregiver, or guardian co-sign their Borrower Agreement.
Items may be checked out and returned to the Catskill Public Library and Palenville Branch Library circulation desks only. Please check the catalog or call ahead to see if an item is on the shelf.
