Mission & Purpose
Friends of Catskill Public Library and Palenville Branch, Inc. advance the vital work of the library, an integral public space, serving the Catskill community in all its diversity.
The Purpose of Friends of the Catskill Public Library and Palenville Branch, Inc. is to establish and maintain a volunteer association of persons interested in the library; to focus positive public attention on library services, facilities and needs; to promote the individual and community use and enjoyment of the library; to provide opportunities for cultural enrichment and programming and to raise funds in support of the library’s initiatives, programs and services to benefit the residents of the Catskill Community including the hamlet of Palenville, New York.
History
The Friends of the Catskill Public Library & Palenville Branch is a newly established 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the mission and activities of the Catskill Public Library and its Palenville Branch. Founded in 2024, the Friends Group aims to enhance library services, foster community engagement, and promote literacy and lifelong learning.
They have started by participating with the library on the last Sunday of every month at the Catskill Farmers’ Market and are planning an inaugural event, “An Afternoon of Enchantment,” on September 15th. They are actively seeking members and volunteers from the community to join their efforts in making the library a vibrant and essential resource for all.

Friends Meetings are held at 6 PM the second Tuesday of every month at our Franklin St location.
