The Catskill Public Library, with its Main Branch at 1 Franklin St. and Palenville Branch at 144 Malden Ave, has a proposed budget of $1,267,406.51 for the calendar year 2026.
The tax levy portion of the budget is $1,125,415. This represents an 8.35% increase request to the Catskill Central School District. For more details on the tax levy, please see the following documents:
This proposed spending plan ensures your libraries can continue investing in vital physical and digital resources while responsibly accounting for anticipated increases in utility costs, staffing, and ongoing facility needs.
Recognizing the added financial pressure of increased rent at our Palenville Branch, remodeling efforts, and needed staffing increases, the Trustees and Director felt it prudent to keep our tax levy request within historical norms by using a small portion of the Library’s savings. As we look ahead to a future remodel of our Catskill Branch and historic Carnegie building, we are committed to thoughtful, fiscally responsible planning across both locations.
